If you are in the state of New Jersey, drive south until you can’t drive anymore. You will find yourself in the quaint old town of Cape May, which was named after the Dutch explorer, Cornelius Jacobsen Mey. The city of Cape May is unique because the entire town was declared a National Historical Landmark in May of 1976. Cape May is still full of Victorian homes and buildings that vacationers can take tours of.
Cape May is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, so vacationers can expect to spend time enjoying the beaches and participating in various water sports. Guests can even take a dolphin/whale watching trip at one of the Cape May marinas.
If spending time in the water isn’t your thing, you can take advantage of the historical sites Cape May has to offer. For example, you can head to Cape May Point to view the Concrete Ship, see the lighthouse, or search for Cape May diamonds.
Although I do not believe in ghosts, Cape May has several ghost tours. These tours can be taken by trolley, or on foot. There is also a haunted dinner theater if you aren’t to scared to make reservations.
Vacationers that want to explore Cape May on their own can rent either bicycles or surreys. Afterward, families can enjoy a game of mini golf, stroll the boardwalk to play in the arcade, take in a movie, or go for a ride on a horse-drawn carriage.
Even though Cape May has numerous activities for vacationers to enjoy, Wildwood is only a few minutes away. Guests can spend an evening at the amusement parks with their families, getting the chance to visit two famous New Jersey cities in one trip.
